Mark Miller on MU's 2015 recruiting class

When Haanif Cheatham committed to Marquette and new coach Steve Wojciechowski on Friday, it meant that MU had just added its third Top 100 ranked recruit. Neenah's Matt Heldt and Sun Praire's Nick Noskowiak committed earlier this yr. I wanted to put this class into proper perspective so I called Mark Miller from the Wisconsin Basketball Yearbook.

#51/#61 Haanif Cheatham to Marquette

Haanif Cheatham has just made an oral commitment to play for Steve Wojciechowski at Marquette. Cheatham made the announcement from his HS in Georgia. He had narrowed his selection to Marquette, California and Georgetown. We will have more information here later today.

Luke Fischer:Talent at a Position of Need

6-11 post Luke Fischer's transfer to MU was one of the few bright spots in the “stress sandwich” that was the Marquette 2013-2014 basketball season. The former Germantown HS star had attended Indiana for one semester but decided to transfer at Christmas. At the formal press conference announcing Fischer's transfer, then Marquette Assistant Coach Jerry Wainright said that getting a post player

Deonte Burton, bigger and stronger

One of the more enjoyable things I have observed from interviewing young players is watching them grow up. Two years ago, I interviewed Burton after a Vincent game and found him to be extremely polite but very quiet and shy. Two years later, he is much more at ease during interviews. I mentioned that he seems like a different guy when interviewed. He said the reason

Derrick Wilson looks back and ahead

PG Derrick Wilson hit an 85 foot shot at the buzzer to beat DePaul or at least so he thought until he realized Head Coach Buzz Williams called timeout before the in bounds pass. That pretty much summarized the frustrating '13-14season for MU. Although MU ended up beating DePaul in OT, there were many games where MU just could not finish and get it done late. I asked Derrick to look back at last

Sandy Cohen the only Freshman on '14-15 Team

Sandy Cohen is the only one of the 4 players in the 2014 recruiting class to remain at Marquette after Buzz left for Va Tech. The reason is that new MU head coach Steve Wojciechowski made Cohen an immediate priority, traveling up to Seymour, WI[about 15 min outside of Green Bay] on the 2nd day on the job.

Mayo leaving MU to seek professional career

Marquette guard Todd Mayo announced on Wednesday evening he will be foregoing his senior campaign to pursue a professional career either in the NBA Developmental League, or abroad. The university confirmed Mayo’s departure in a press release. “We wish Todd nothing but the best and appreciate his contributions to the program, not only since I arrived at Marquette, but

Matt Carlino carries on Family Legacy at MU

Here is my interview with transfer PG Matt Carlino. He has been on campus for two weeks. Since he is one of the older guys on the team, he is trying to be a leader. A HS star player from Ariz, Matt signed with UCLA then left after one semester for BYU. We saw him play last March in the Bradley Center as the starting PG when BYU played Oregon in the NCAA Tournament.

MU Adds Minnesota Transfer Wally Ellenson

Milwaukee – The Marquette University men's basketball program has added Minnesota transfer Wally Ellenson to the roster, head coach Steve Wojciechowski announced Wednesday afternoon. Ellenson, a 6-6, 210-pounder, will arrive on campus this fall and have two seasons of eligibility remaining after redshirting in 2014-15 due to NCAA transfer rules.

Wojo Welcomes Jabari Parker to Milwaukee

"I couldn't be happier for Jabari and his family, knowing the hard work and dedication each of them has put into this day and ultimately earning the opportunity to play in the NBA. Jabari is not only a great fit for the Bucks, but also for the city's community."

MU lands Loyola-Marymount transfer Levin

Men's basketball coach Steve Wojciechowski didn't have much success retaining the 2014 recruiting class Buzz Williams assembled, but on Tuesday he added his second transfer student of his Marquette tenure by signing former Loyola-Marymount forward Gabe Levin. According to NBC Sports, Levin chose Marquette over fellow Midwest programs Northwestern and Notre Dame.

Loyola Marymount Standout Gabe Levin to MU

Milwaukee – The Marquette University men's basketball program has added Loyola Marymount transfer Gabe Levin to the roster, head coach Steve Wojciechowski announced Tuesday afternoon
